It's still me! (JustAnotherRadiumGirl)

What? What has she done? Why would she do this?!

Hi!
It's still me, Radium.
As you may have noticed, I've changed the blog name from JustAnotherRadiumGirl to Radioactive Rain and the site address from www.justanotherradiumgirl.blogspot.com to www.radi0activerain.blogspot.com. The radi0active because radioactive was already taken. I've also recoloured/re-fonted the site from all black to shades of blue. Get it? Because blue is a colour connoted with water and rain is water... I'm pathetic? I'll stop then.

Anyway, you might be wondering why I've made this massive but actually quite small change. If you've been reading my stuff for a while, you'll see how my feelings towards the name JustAnotherRadiumGirl have changed over time.

An excerpt from my first post:

"Also, the name JustAnotherRadiumGirl, weird as it is, took me ages to think of so appreciate it. At least it's a few degrees better than my first ever username: jazzymicropigs1512xoxo."

(And it did not take you ages to think of, you liar!)

An excerpt from a much later post:

"I'm starting to really hate the name JustAnotherRadiumGirl but I guess it's too late to change it now!"

Wrong! Because that's what I'm doing. In addition to me disliking the name, I'm also changing it because I realised that it's kind of offensive.

asdflsfldjajklfjdkfa what kind of snowflake finds the name JustAnotherRadiumGirl offensive?!

A snowflake that knows stuff about WW2.

Ready for a quick history lesson?
Okay, so before it was that Radium was dangerous, it was used to paint dials on watches so they'd glow in the dark (because Radium is luminous). In WW2, while men were off fighting, women would work in factories. There was a specific group of women who worked painting clock dials with Radium-paint. As you now know, or already knew, it wasn't known that Radium was dangerous meaning the women weren't too bothered about getting it on their skin. In fact, some deliberately put it on their skin... and clothes... and teeth...

The Radium killed them- at varying speeds. It destroyed the bone in some of their jaws and they became so brittle that they had to be taken out. Their jaws had to be taken out. Others developed cancer later in life.

They became known as the Radium Girls.

The old name of my blog and what it sounded like I was insinuating... that made me like it a lot less.

So, yeah: a new name. I didn't want to move away from the theme of science and elements entirely as that's something which still really interests me. In other words, nothing is changing: I'm still Radium and I'll continue to infrequently post the same shit as I used to.

A last note: I'm thinking of starting a YouTube channel. I know that I'll probably get virtual trash thrown at me as people yell "get off the internet, you stupid fetus" or "when I was your age..." but this is something I've been considering doing for a while so please don't do that. I think I'd do book reviews and monologues, occasionally covering a song. Or maybe writing my own! Ha, no. My own poetry makes me want to vomit.
