The Mouse

Hello... again.
So, yesterday me and my mother went to my friend Tin's house for dinner. Tin is one of my closest friends- we've known each other literally since we were born (one month apart, I was first) and parents were friends before that (well, our dads were... at first). We were best friends in reception- we played those fun imaginary games that five year olds play (okay... we carried on playing imaginary games until we were about nine or ten, not in school though, in his Nan's garden and the bomb shelter). We both shared an appreciation for Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings at a young age (my mum showed me Lord of the Rings in preschool... good parenting... but actually though, I turned out to be moderately intelligent, don't know if it has anything to do with watching good films as a three year old).

In year five, I moved schools- we grew apart slightly but saw each other outside of school so it was all good. We ended up going to different secondary schools but I see him at least once a week as we often go round each other's houses for dinner.

That was a very drawn out explanation.

Anyway, I was at his Grandma's house- we'd had dinner and we were sat in the front room. Tin was playing cards against his mum and my mum while Nickel, his older sister, was on her phone. I was reading. I looked up from my book and saw a grey thing float across the floor. It was a mouse! I was instantly exited. I've only seen one other wild mouse in my life.

"Look! I think it's a mouse." I whispered to the others, trying not to scare it. Tin was too invested in the card game but Nickel and I spent the remainder of the evening watching the mouse scurry around the room. We preventing it from going underneath the door into the kitchen as it would be eaten by cats there. Silver said it was a field mouse, I don't have a picture of that specific one but I googled "grey field mouse" and this one is practically identical:

It was the cutest thing ever!

Nickel caught it and was going to put him/her outside but she she put it in my hands and for a split second I stared into it's small black eyes... before it did a front flip over my hand and ran under the bookshelf. Well done, me. But I think that we don't appreciate how freaking quick/light/agile mice are- these creatures are seriously underrated. Here's another mouse picture, similar to the one we saw:
